Focus on being productive, instead of being busy – Ferriss

Focus on being productive,
instead of being busy.
– Tim Ferriss

My dad once said, “too much shuffling of feet gets you nowhere.” He knew how it was, being a former top executive of San Miguel Corporation. In his days as an executive, he encountered a lot of managers who got themselves busy with getting busy. The problem was, they didn’t get things done.

In organizations I lead, I tell my people to work smart rather than just work hard. I know how it is to work long hours but do the work for the sake of just doing it — because of the 15/30 paydays. When I focused on getting results, I got more productive. Eventually, things paid off. I got promoted faster than the others and got my salary upped many times over. The biggest benefit I got was when I was in sales. The commissions were definitely much bigger than the paychecks.

Don’t forget: Work Smart. Go for results.
