Julius Ordoñez, World Executives Digest | At the Annual Meeting of the Harvard Alumni Association, bestselling author, J.K.Rowling of “Harry Potter” fame, was invited to make a speech. In that gathering, J.K. Rowling narrated how she went from an unemployed, near-destitute single parent to one of the richest women in Britain. She revealed that, “Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.”

Sometimes, life seems to challenge us till we feel we’re at our lowest. But life’s like that. We are brought to a point wherein all that is left is solid ground. Bruised and wounded, all that’s left is for us to pick up the pieces, build from the experience and fight another day. At the point of nothingness is where we are stripped of the non-essentials in life. We are faced with a higher level of clarity we have never seen. Ultimately, we are faced with the decision of determining if indeed we have failed — or just learned a valuable lesson.

Failure is a matter of perspective. Once you hit rock bottom, see it as an opportunity to begin again. Not everyone is given that chance.
